The Lego Batman Movie

Who didn't love The Lego Movie am I right? If you didn't, please leave. I'm just kidding, but if you seriously did not enjoy The Lego Movie, there's no way you're going to enjoy this film. And if you say you enjoy this one but not The Lego Movie, you are most definitely lying about not enjoying The Lego Movie. Because you can't enjoy this without enjoying the movie before it. Deal with it.

THE
 LEGO BATMAN
MOVIE

Will Arnett reprises his role as the best incarnation of Batman since The Dark Knight Trilogy directed by visionary director Christopher Nolan. And this time, he's dealing with some personal issues while also having to deal with the new Commissioner in town: Barbara Gordon.
Now if you're a big DC Comics buff, you'll probably be a little confused about this whole
version of Barbara and Bruce's relationship. I was, too since I played the Arkham Trilogy (phenomenal game series by the way) and their relationship was almost intimate. In this Lego adaptation however, Barbara Gordon is completely unaware of Batman's true identity as Bruce Wayne.
Also, Barbara, as I mentioned before, becomes the new Gotham City Police Commissioner, relieving Jim Gordon from duty. Now Jim is not as complex or as driven as the Jim Gordon we know from Nolan's film trilogy. Instead, Lego Jim is completely reliant on Batman and whenever there's trouble, he just pushes a button that turns on the Bat signal. And conveniently, Batman comes to the rescue.
At the beginning of the film, there's the typical villain release, crazy plot to drop a huge boat-load (actually a plane load) of bombs on the city and Batman comes and saves the day. The way he beats all the villains is actually the best thing I have ever seen. It was Arkham Trilogy sick, it was Lego hilarious.
He comes in with a song and it's actually got a pretty sweet beat to it. So once he starts his rapping, he just wrecks everyone in a matter of a minute or two. The Joker takes maybe an extra 30 seconds to beat, but overall he makes quick work of everyone.
Then he goes home to Alfred and his Batcave. From there, he meets Richard Grayson at the party that's held to honor Jim Gordon's retirement. He adopts Richard (later known as Dick) and he takes him on a daring mission to get the weapon that will be able to send villains into the Phantom Zone.
And finally, all the villains escape from the Phantom Zone, and Dick, Batman, Barbara, and Alfred save the city. Overall, it's a hilarious ride full of heartwarming storytelling.

Ratings:
Family Friendliness- 9/10 Batarangs This is probably one of the most family friendly movies you'll see out there since The Lego Movie. There's some pretty funny references to past Batman films, and there's one part where when Bruce meets Richard, Richard says "The other kids call me 'Dick'", to which Bruce replies "Well children can be cruel."
Humor- 9/10 Batcaves Left and right jokes, puns, and insults are being thrown around, and they're all (relatively if not completely) clean! It's one that not only kids will enjoy. Adults will have a ball, too!
Story-line- 7/10 Batmobiles It's a pretty cliché story. The bad guy wants to destroy the city because the hero does something to him that hurts him and the hero has to wrestle with his greatest fear in order to team up with other heroes and beat the bad guys. At the end of it all, Batman and the City of Gotham are once again in harmony.
Overall- 9/10 Stars The score should have been 8, but c'mon. This is a Lego movie, and it's one of those films that you'll watch over and over again on Friday nights to lay back and relax. You may even forget about that big project at work you have or that big exam coming up!

The Jungle Book (2016)

Who doesn't love the Bare Necessities? Or who doesn't Wanna Be Like You? "I wanna walk like you, talk like you tooo!!!" Jon Favreau does a magnificent job of bringing the beloved Disney cartoon to life. Get ready, fasten your seatbelts, for The Jungle Book.

WARNING!!! SPOILERS!!!

Mowgli is a man-cub that changed the jungle forever. And Bagheera recounts his story. The movie begins with Mowgli running from Bagheera and running with the pack of wolves that he was raised with. He's been raised a wolf, but he hasn't grown as fast as a wolf.
We see how Mowgli's been raised as the pack's own, and he is still learning. But he's family.
The year drags on and there's a dry season. No rain falls for a long time, and the Peace Rock is exposed. This is the rock where, if there isn't enough water for everyone, they all go to the rock to share the remaining water. There's no hunting, fighting, or preying of any kind.

The rock is exposed for everyone... including Sheer Khan. Sheer Khan is a fierce tiger looking for revenge on a certain man-cub, Mowgli. Sheer Khan's face is partially burned, and he is blind in his left eye. At this point, Sheer Khan has waited about eight or nine years to finally hunt
down Mowgli. He tells Akeela, the leader of the Wolf Pack, that he wants Mowgli, or animals will die.
So begins Mowgli's journey to go to the man-village. Along the way, he encounters Kaa (Scarlett Johansson, Lucy), Baloo (Bill Murray), and King Louie (Christopher Walken). It is an unforgettable journey that will leave you wanting to see it again and again. Oh, and there's a pretty epic battle with Shere Khan (Idris Elba, Thor: The Dark World).

Ratings:
Family Friendliness: 8.5/10- No movie can be perfectly family friendly, but this movie is quite near it. There is some killing that may even shock a parent, and it does get pretty violent. But those moments are always outweighed by the fact that the rest of the film is fun! Get ready for those musical numbers!
Story-line: 9/10- Jon Favreau does a phenomenal job of staying close to the original story, and you feel like the cartoon hopped right out at you and was replaced with real-life creatures and a real boy!
Re-watch Probability: Very High (9/10)- Numbers say it all.

Eddie the Eagle

This was truly a heartwarming story, and I had the amazing opportunity to see it on Easter and, coincidentally, my birthday! It was an incredible true story that had me in tears at the end. Don't worry, they were happy tears.

E  D  D  I  E     T  H  E     E  A  G  L  E

Michael "Eddie" Edwards is a young English boy at the age of six that dreams of becoming an olympian. This is clear right from the start because we see from an underwater perspective, a watch. Eddie is timing himself.
When he comes out of the water, he sees that he held his breath for "nearly 58 seconds!"
Michael "Eddie the Eagle" Edwards
He packs his things and heads to the downstairs front door. Bag over his shoulder and jacket on his back, he's ready for the journey and tells his mom, "To the Olympics," when his mother questions where he's off to.
"Well, you're going to need this," says his mother, " to put your medals in." She hands him a tin box.
                     "Thanks mum."
The year is 1973. Eddie, with a leg brace, walks out of the door towards the bus stop. As he's walking, his mother turns away from the door and tells her husband, "Terry, he's off to the Olympics again."
Eddie arrives at the bus stop and looks at the bus schedule, seeing when the next ride will be. His father drives up behind him and says, "And where do you think you're going, Eddie?"
                      "I'm going to the Olympics."
His father convinces him to come home, and next we see Eddie at the doctor's office.
Bronson Peary played by Hugh Jackman
The doc bends his knee back and forth, showing good progress. Five years later, Eddie is at the doctor's and is able to have the brace removed altogether.
He suggests that Eddie doesn't take up sports, and that instead he should take up reading. Eddie doesn't listen though, and starts his Olympic training. Since he was told to take up reading, the first book he buys is an Olympic book. He reads up on all the records, events, and title holders.
His father tries to dissuade him from Olympic training and brings him to work to learn how to plaster. When Eddie and his dad exit the car, Eddie sees skiers racing down the hills. His dad had told him, "Eddie! You are NOT an athlete!" Later, he said, "You won't make it to the Olympics."
Eddie, eyeing the skiers, says, "Dad! You're a genius! I'm not going to the Olympics. I'm going to the Winter Olympics."
So begins his training and the pursuing of his dream to be an Olympic Skier. However, he is told that he will never be Olympic material by a rather annoying and stubborn Englishman. Eddie is only temporarily down in the mud until he finds out about Ski Jumping, and begins pursuing that.
Along the way, he has many setbacks, and he can't quite advance in his training until Bronson Peary (Hugh Jackman) shows up and eventually agrees to train him. They train for a year with many difficulties, but Eddie manages to make it to the 1988 Winter Olympics, and capture the hearts of all the viewers.
In his celebration of setting an English record in the 70 meter Ski Jump, Eddie mocks an eagle's flying, earning him the name of the title of the film, "Eddie the Eagle."

Ratings:
Family Friendliness: 8.5/10 Hills- The film is very funny and light-hearted, but also heartwarming. There are some inappropriate references, and partial nudity, but all-in-all, a good family film. You journey with Eddie through his trials, setbacks, and victories that lead up to his Olympic qualification, participation, and rise to fame because of his never-ending and undying spirit. He never gave up, and he got to where he wanted to go. This is a film about true dedication.
Story-line: 10/10 Eagles- Now, I don't know the full true story of Eddie "The Eagle" Edwards, but I'm sure that the movie did a fantastic job of telling his story. And let's be honest, any true story is a good story worth sharing and seeing.
Rewatch Probability: Very High (9/10 Olympians)- You'll either be on the verge of tears or in tears by the end of the movie and will want to walk right back in for the next showing. Eddie the Eagle is a film that is definitely worth the price of admission and worth view on the big screen. So get to it!
Overall: 9/10 Ski Jumps

Tom Hanks Double Feature: Big

Alright, I've gotta finish up this Double Feature before I see "Eddie the Eagle" and "Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice." So without further a-do... BIG!

B   I   G

Josh Baskin is your typical 12 year old kid. He loves playing video games and he checks out the hot girls at his school. There is a carnival that comes into town and Josh and his family go check it out. The popular girl is there and he wants to impress her by going on the biggest ride at the carnival. Unfortunately, he's too short (we all know how that feels). So, bummed out, he separates from his family and takes a little stroll around.
He finds an old Zoltar Speaks machine and puts in a quarter. Zoltar asks him to make his
wish, and Josh says, "I wish I was big."
The next morning, he finds himself as a thirty year old man, much too big for his 12 year old underwear and pajamas. He scrambles around and gets some of his father's clothing for the time being, and his mother drives him out of the house thinking that her Josh has been kidnapped.
Josh goes to school and convinces Billy that he is indeed Josh, and they go into the city where Josh stays at a hotel. He then starts looking for a job, and gets one at a toy company. His first paycheck, he goes nuts with Billy and they have a blast.
Josh continues working hard and one day runs into the company owner's daughter, Susan. They immediately have chemistry, but no words are exchanged. One day as Josh is at the store, he runs into the company owner, and he starts talking with him about the toys that they sell and manufacture, giving very good feedback. As they're talking, they stumble upon a floor keyboard and well... I'll let you watch it. It's quite a scene, and it always makes me smile.

This is possibly one of the greatest scenes in a film I have ever seen. It really shows that you can still be a kid at heart even though you're in an adult body. I'm gonna keep this in mind when I'm big myself!
Anyway, Josh gets promoted and he is testing all the toys at the company, and he is getting a significant pay raise. So he buys a huge condo to live in and sends his parents letters saying that he is okay and that they shouldn't worry too much.
Josh has a lot of really fun adventures in his adult body, and even dates Susan for awhile! I want you to see the film because it's truly a great film. I say that about virtually any movie, but you're going to love this so much that you'll wanna watch it all weekend. I mean, unless you've got Daredevil to watch, then watch that. THEN watch this. You won't regret it.

Ratings:
Family Friendliness- 8 out of 10 pianos: I have to warn you parents though. At one point in the film (and you'll know it) Josh and Susan are alone and Susan takes off her shirt and bra. It's suggested that they have a romantic moment, but really Josh just caresses Susan's breasts, then it's over. Make sure you cover your youngins' eyes when this comes round. Other than that, a lotta fun humor, although not always appropriate.
Story-line- 9/10 Zoltar Machines: Great story. It's a classic. Watch it.
Rewatch Probability- Very High (9/10): You will absolutely love this movie, hands-down, no joke no thought no-how.
Overall- 9/10

The Walk

Well Happy New Year everyone!!! Better late than never, right? So, here I'm going to do my review on "The Walk" starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and then I'm going to do a list of movies in the upcoming year that I will most likely review. Then hopefully later on I'll do game reviews on "Tomb Raider" and "Titanfall." Thanks guys for being patient. I've had a lotta trouble with this concussion, so I'll try to be better at posting. But now, let's get reviewing!

T   H   E        W   A   L   K

The movie is narrated by Philippe Petit, Joseph Gordon-Levitt's character. He is
a frenchman who, as a boy, loved line walkers. He first saw them at a circus he snuck into. From that point on, he began teaching himself to walk on a line. As time passed, he became better. He was eventually walking on a single rope line instead of five, and he wanted to improve his walk even more.
But I'm getting ahead of myself.
Philippe describes his life before moving to America. He rides around on a
unicycle carrying his equipment and looking for somewhere to hang up his line and walk. On the line, he will juggle various items, and he has a chalk circle set up that people must stay on the outside of. If they violate his circle, he rides on their toes on his unicycle.
He does not talk while in his circle, he only does his show.
During a show, he gets a horrible tooth ache from a jawbreaker sort of thing and goes to see a dentist, but has to wait for two hours. When he sits down, he picks up a newspaper and sees the story on the Twin Towers in New York City and steals the page, making it his dream to walk across the towers.
One day, he is looking for some place to set up his line and he sees a woman playing the guitar, getting money that way. He watches for a minute or two, and sets up his line away from her, and then begins to perform. The crowds that were interested in the woman then go to Philippe, and she's not happy that Philippe stole her crowd and her money.
Philippe finishes his show and the woman introduces herself as Annie. She explains how Philippe stealing her thunder was not cool. Philippe responds that he did not
mean to; in fact, he set up his line away from Annie, because that was her area where she was performing and demonstrating her talents, and he never wants to hurt another artist.
Annie and Philippe begin their long term relationship, and go through ups and downs all the way to the main event, Philippe walking the Twin Towers.
This is definitely a good family movie to watch, and a good Friday night film too. I highly recommend this film for anyone that loves a good true story.

Ratings:
Family Friendliness- 9/10 Wires: There is no cursing in this film, there is only some minor injuries which show a little blood, but it is a fun film with a lot of laughs.
Story-line- 9/10 bolts: This is very true to Philippe Petit's story, as he himself aided in teaching Joseph Gordon-Levitt to walk on a wire. He also had a hand in how the story was told.
Re-watch Probability- 8/10 Towers: This is an extraordinary film that will leave you breathless. It is truly one to watch over and over again.
Overall- 9/10

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2

Get ready for the biggest finale of one of the most successful movie series of all time. This film is sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. Even if you have read the book, you will be wondering what is going to happen next. But there is satisfaction in having read the book! Whatever is to happen, you know exactly how it should happen, and it happens almost the exact same way you envisioned it. So get ready for a pleaser, readers!

The film begins almost immediately. Katniss is with a doctor in District 13 and is getting her neck brace from the first movie removed. It is obvious that quite some time has passed
since the incident with Peeta.
"Alright. Now I want you to say, 'My name is Katniss Everdeen,'" commands the doctor.
                      "Mmmyyy..." Katniss wheezes.
                      "Take your time."
                      "Mmmyyy... nnaaamee... iis... Kaattniss... Everrdeen."
Plutarch is there, witnessing Katniss speak for the first time in a while. He tells Katniss that they are going to try something different today with Peeta. They are going to send in somebody he trusts from District 12, but probably someone he won't hurt. But they're getting closer to letting Peeta see Katniss.
Guess who goes in? If you guessed Prim, kudos to you. Prim goes in and begins talking to Peeta, but that doesn't end so well. Peeta snaps again and starts yelling at Prim about how Katniss is dangerous. "SHE'LL KILL US ALL! YOU HAVE TO KILL HER PRIM! SHE'S DANGEROUS!"
Don't worry, Prim gets out okay, but she's a little shaken.
Katniss then goes to see Coin, and says that Snow has to pay for what he did to Peeta
and to the districts. She wants to go to District 2, where Coin is thinking of shooting "propos" showing that the Mockingjay is alive and well.
Coin agrees and Katniss is on her way.
However, Katniss is not to be going into direct battle. The brilliant minds of District 13 including Beetee and Gale suggest that they smoke out the people in the factory at 2 that is being held by the Capitol. But, they leave an opening that can be used to escape by train. Here, the District 13 officers and Katniss will try to convince them to turn over to the Rebellion.
Katniss goes to the train tracks and awaits the train. When it arrives, most of the men who come off surrender immediately, and one of the men is beat down. Katniss feels bad for the guy and rushes to him. But of course it's a gimmick, and he holds a pistol to Katniss's throat, asking, "Give me one good reason why I shouldn't shoot."
                           "I can't."
Katniss goes on to explain that she is tired of being a pawn in Snow's game, and that if the man kills her, she is doing both Snow and her a favor. The man stops to think and lowers the gun. Katniss then turns to the rest of the Loyalists and begins to beg them to turn the Rebellion. But one Loyalist gets kinda ticked and pulls a gun, shooting Katniss in the chest.
I'm not gonna go on, but obviously Katniss lives. (Sorry for the spoiler alert guys! :P)

Ratings:
Family Friendliness- 7.8/10 Arrows: The film is not the most family friendly, but for what blood there is, there's not much. Just don't go taking your 6 year old to see this; that's probably not the best idea, y'know what I mean? Like, there's not any language, and if there is, it's very minimal. The violence is definitely up there, so just make wise decisions.

Story-line- 9.5/10 Mockingjays: Oh my goodness, if you read the book, you will be geeking out in your seat. What you imagined the scenes would look like when reading the book, they most likely appear that way in the movie. It's beyond amazing. For example, the way Finnick dies... oh gosh, it's so sad, yet it happens so quickly, just like in the book. Katniss says "Nightlock. Nightlock. Nightlock," and Finnick is gone with a big bang, quickly forgotten a couple moments later. It really isn't until the end of the movie when you actually have time to think about everything that has happened that you realize how tragic the deaths were.

Re-watch Probability- Very High (aka 12/13 Districts): You'll be wanting to watch this again as soon as you're out of the theater. So you might as well plan on buying it for unlimited playbacks. Trust me... it's that good.
