Alright, this is more for the ones
who have already seen the amazing blockbuster film. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is
a movie that, I’m sure you would agree, reveals secrets as to Peter’s origin
that were never in the comics.
Marc Webb cleverly designs an origin
story that tells an incredible story that both comic fans and non-comic fans
alike can grasp, understand, and love. While Marc Webb does a fantastic job of
making more scientific sense of Spider-Man’s foes, I think we can see where he
wants to go with the wall-crawler’s enemies.
It seems like almost all of Spidey’s
enemies will be results of Oscorp tech that originated from Peter’s father and
Norman Osborne. So Mr. Webb is making Oscorp look like the ultimate
enemy, and nobody is realizing it (in the movie that is). Yes, Oscorp is an
evil corporation in general, but making it the ULTIMATE super-villain
supplier?!
That just makes it sound like it’s
going to be a HUGE monotonous mess of super-villains that all come from super
high-tech gear. Now, in my opinion, that defeats the whole purpose of
Spider-Man’s enemies!
Each one is supposed to be unique,
and all of them create a variety that adds color and flavor to the wall-crawler’s
enemy gallery. But Mr. Webb is almost trying to take a giant toy box, and
confine it to one small little chest.
Even for non-comic book fans of
Spider-Man, it seems like it’ll become a bit boring. I think we can expect some
protests against this from the fans (me being one of them). Now, I’m not trying
to start a riot or anything, I’m just saying that Mr. Webb could’ve followed
through with his idea, just not it the way he’s approaching it now.
Y’know, Mr. Webb could’ve had Oscorp
stationed all over the world, and then the super-villains are encountered later
on in Manhattan because of the villains’ desire to destroy millions of lives,
starting in Manhattan! I don’t know! Just don’t confine everything to
one building and one enormous city!
Whew! Enough of my ranting and
criticism, let’s get on to the good stuff: Easter Eggs! The only ones I saw
were pretty obvious, only like one wasn’t as obvious (or maybe two weren’t so
obvious, I dunno).
Well, here goes:
Felicia
Hardy: Harry
Osborne’s secretary in the movie, and to comic book fans, inevitably Black Cat.
Venom: Now, one not so obvious, but
when Harry is looking through the Oscorp files for the first time, there’s a
file labeled, “Venom.” So Venom will most likely be a spin-off of the original
spider venom that created Spider-Man.
Doctor
Octopus: Now, if
you didn’t spot this one… that’s just sad. Either you have really bad eyesight,
or you fell asleep during the movie, which I find highly unlikely.
Return
of Hobgoblin or Rise of Demogoblin: This
one isn’t as obvious either, but also when Harry was looking through the files,
there was a file named, “Os-Suit MK II.” So we can expect Harry to return, or
to get another goblin on his side.
Red
Skull in Future Captain America’s?:
Huh? Yep, that’s right! When Mr. and Mrs. Parker were getting attacked, that
man was actually a trained assassin working for the THIRD Red Skull, so we can
probably expect a Red Skull return in future Captain movies. Maybe not, I
dunno.
Of Easter Eggs, that’s all I saw.
